Me ha encantado。Siento que la historia ha sido mucho más completa que el primer libro。 Además, llegas a conocer la historia de los personajes más en profundidad y empatizas con ellos。

An amazing norse bookI chose 3 stars because it does have LGBTQ+ content as an 11 yr old im not disturbed, but at first i was but it could have been worse。Rick Did an amazing job but cut down the language a little but overall it was a great book

You know that friend that their sexuality is their entire personality? Yeah, that’s this book。 I’m in the LGBTQ community and it annoyed even me how excessive and ridiculous this gender fluid stuff is in this book。 It’s all we hear about every time the character comes into view。 You know who had a trans character that didn’t have to remind you every time they said their name? Michael Grant。 Jesus。 Really disappointed because I have read all his other books and was enjoying the series so far and You know that friend that their sexuality is their entire personality? When I read the first book in this trilogy last year I remember being pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it。 So much so that I've been itching to get around to this book all year and when it came up as a book that could fit my Bookoplathon roll I was excited。 Clearly, it didn't work out for me。This book just felt overly long, complete with side quests that not only felt inconsequential but just weren't fun to read about。 Maybe for the actual age demographic it could be a better time, tho When I read the first book in this trilogy last year I remember being pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it。 So much so that I've been itching to get around to this book all year and when it came up as a book that could fit my Bookoplathon roll I was excited。 Clearly, it didn't work out for me。This book just felt overly long, complete with side quests that not only felt inconsequential but just weren't fun to read about。 Maybe for the actual age demographic it could be a better time, though a lot of the actual humor in this felt like references to think that actual children wouldn't know? Which left the only humor to be fart jokes, and I'm sure that ten year olds love a good fart joke, but Magnus to me started to read less like Magnus in this one and just felt more muddled with not only Percy, but the general tone of The Heroes of Olympus, which were books I also felt were poorly paced。 While I think it's somewhat admirable to have Middle Grade with slightly older protaganists, here like with Heroes, it just didn't click for me。 Yeah, teenagers can still feel immature, but often times the tone here felt dialed to the most extreme version of that?A lot of the discussions of queerness and religion were nice to see, especially having them normalized in the way they were in books for such young readers。 I wouldn't dissuade younger readers from picking this up, I just don't think I'm actually all that invested on this particular crew try and stop the end of the world or see if that teased crossover with Percy actually happens。 。。。more

I think this book was a lot better than the first one。 One of my main complaints about The Sword of Summer was that there were too many unrelated side quest that made the book feel slow, stilted, and uninteresting。 This book has some of that as well (it's just something that I expect to be in all of Rick's books at this point), but I felt like we had a more central conflict that the side quests actually helped us get towards (and it felt like there was a lot less distracting side quests, leaving I think this book was a lot better than the first one。 One of my main complaints about The Sword of Summer was that there were too many unrelated side quest that made the book feel slow, stilted, and uninteresting。 This book has some of that as well (it's just something that I expect to be in all of Rick's books at this point), but I felt like we had a more central conflict that the side quests actually helped us get towards (and it felt like there was a lot less distracting side quests, leaving the ones that we did have to feel longer, better developed, and like they all were adding something to the story)。 Another big positive was Alex。 I don't think I need to explain this one if you've read it。 Constant highlight of the entire book。However, one of my other main complaints about the first book was that Magnus kinda just showed up and then watched the chaotic climax unfold and didn't do much, and although the climax of this book was an improvement from the first book, I still think that it could have been written better。 There was just something a little off that made it feel like it was missing that punch in the final battle scene。 I'm not sure what exactly is causing the hang up though。 I'm happy that Magnus actually was involved in the action this time, but there was still (like the first book) a lot of other things happening during the climax that Magnus is trying to focus on as well, but he feels really separated from the other battles。Overall, an improvement from the first book, and I'm excited to continue on with the series。 。。。more

"My brain refused to get out of my head。 Inconsiderate brain。" I do like Magnus' story, but it seems it's more like The Kane Chronicles than the Greek and Roman series。 Unfortunately, that is not a good thing where I'm concerned。 Just like with the first book, it felt so much longer than what it actually was。 It was only after about 300-or-so pages that things started to speed up。I like Magnus as a character, despite the fact that he is very much like Percy。 And I like his friends Sam, Blitzen "My brain refused to get out of my head。 Inconsiderate brain。" I do like Magnus' story, but it seems it's more like The Kane Chronicles than the Greek and Roman series。 Unfortunately, that is not a good thing where I'm concerned。 Just like with the first book, it felt so much longer than what it actually was。 It was only after about 300-or-so pages that things started to speed up。I like Magnus as a character, despite the fact that he is very much like Percy。 And I like his friends Sam, Blitzen and Hearth and I was glad to learn more about all three of them。 I also rather liked the new member Alex though there are still several things left open in regards to him/her。 While all these characters developed well and felt like a working part of the plot, Magnus' other set of friends - his hallmates - are even less relevant than in the first book。 I feel like I am missing the point of these characters。 On one hand, they are interesting and have a solid foundation for becoming well thought out characters。 On the other hand, they are barely in the book which makes it really hard to warm up to them plus I struggle to relate to their loyalty toward Magnus as we don't actually see them bonding。 What a lot of people seem to love about Magnus' series is the diversity whereas to me, it's one of the weakest points of this book。 Diversity is great but it needs to be believable and organic - Riordan knows how to do that as he has already shown that in his Greek-Roman series。 In Magnus' case, very similar to how I felt about The Kane Chronicles, it feels very much forced。 I feel as though a lot of the diversity was added simply to get the said diversity stamp on the cover。 Clearly, I am in the minority here but I would like characters to be more than just a representation of something and I didn't feel that way about how Riordan handled it here。On a similar note, there were a few odd clashes of religion in this one。 I liked that Magnus and Sam could talk freely and respectfully to one another about religion and their views。 But things become complicated if you write a fantasy novel about deities and then add characters with completely different beliefs。 I found it very hard to get my head around Sam being a devout Muslim while at the same time working with Norse gods。 Sam considering the Norse gods as powerful beings who are not actually gods in order for it to exist alongside her own belief just felt like it was breaking the foundation of all of Riordan's myth-based books。 I felt sad and disappointed that there were so many elements in this book that just didn't sit right with me。 But at the end of the day, it is still a solid and fun middle grade book。 I don't think it is as good as some of Riordan's other books, but it's still entertaining。 While not all jokes had me laughing (farting Thor just had me rolling my eyes), there were plenty of jokes that did the trick。 I particularly enjoyed the two goats - they might not be major characters, but they sure are fun。 I enjoyed learning more about Blitzen and Hearth, though I am unsure what exactly their relationship is - their interactions are endearing but they are de 。。。more

This book was definitely going to be a 4 star。 The book had some great parts and it definitely keeps the reader entertained, but some parts got kind of boring。 Though reading through the boring parts you get to the good parts。 Hopefully you feel the same about this book。

Not worth your time。 Not near as good as his first few series。 Too many references to pop culture that are, 2-3 years later, already difficult to follow。 Timeless? Hardly。 Shouldn't Norse lit be a little longer lasting。。。given we've known about Norse gods for centuries? Not bothering with book 3; book 2 was terrible。 Not worth your time。 Not near as good as his first few series。 Too many references to pop culture that are, 2-3 years later, already difficult to follow。 Timeless? Alex Fierro is my spirit animal period!!! wedding of the century, don't mess with Thor。 By the way, was imagining Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Loki while reading it。 A must-read if you are interested in goat assassinations and bowling competitions with giants。 p。s I can say I have learned my pronouns well thank you! Magnus Chase a formerly homeless sixteen year old kid, he is a caring and brave person。 This is because, when he Hearthstone, and Blitzen (who was currently turned to stone) went to hearthstones dad's house, when Magnus saw how Hearths dad had treated him when he was younger and when Magnus met him; he was a caring and brave friend because when they needed to get the gold coins by fighting Andvari, and getting the skofunong stone from Hearth's dad。 This part was important to me because it really Magnus Chase a formerly homeless sixteen year old kid, he is a caring and brave person。 This is because, when he Hearthstone, and Blitzen (who was currently turned to stone) went to hearthstones dad's house, when Magnus saw how Hearths dad had treated him when he was younger and when Magnus met him; he was a caring and brave friend because when they needed to get the gold coins by fighting Andvari, and getting the skofunong stone from Hearth's dad。 This part was important to me because it really set in with me of how Hearthstone was treaded when he was younger because he is deaf。 。。。more

I borrowed this book from a friend。 Following the end of the last book which saw Magnus and his friend fighting fire giants and the Fenris wolf, Magnus is still finding his footing as a chosen warrior of Odin。 He is a son of Frey after all, and fighting for his lunch really doesn't fit in with being a demigod of summer and fertility。 But still, he's enjoying his life。 That is until someone kills his goat。 Things are shaking up in Asgard as well as Midgard as Thor's hammer is still missing, and I borrowed this book from a friend。 Following the end of the last book which saw Magnus and his friend fighting fire giants and the Fenris wolf, Magnus is still finding his footing as a chosen warrior of Odin。 He is a son of Frey after all, and fighting for his lunch really doesn't fit in with being a demigod of summer and fertility。 But still, he's enjoying his life。 That is until someone kills his goat。 Things are shaking up in Asgard as well as Midgard as Thor's hammer is still missing, and there is a new child of Loki on the scene。 Alex Fierro is the first gender-fluid character I have come across in YA lit and I loved the inclusion。 I enjoyed that when Magnus asked Alex to explain, Alex stated that it wasn't their responsibility to educate him and Magnus should do some work himself。 Magnus and everyone accepts this pretty quickly and strive to be understanding and inclusive which I loved。 This story is wild。 Honestly。 It includes Loki, a plot to marry of Sam, a body swap, a whole drama。 But our characters, despite what they have already faced, come to us the same。 Funny, dorky and sarcastic mainly but we get glances into our character's lives in ways we didn't in book one。 For example, we get to spend some time with Hearth's dad in his childhood home and find out that Hearth's life was hard from the get go, not just because his disability isn't accepted by his father, but because his father is a tyrant。 。。。more

Just as good as the first with the introduction of Alex Ferro adding more with Riordan's inclusion of multiple views from the LGBTQ+ community but also talking about the cultural importance of Alex being a gender fluid character。 The story is definitely leading within similar style of going about how Dooms day will come about while also still explaining as many Norse Legends and myths in a modern take, very excited to see how this Trilogy concludes within the Third book!
